Our Take on Simple Lasagna Bolognese

Making bolognese is the less easy and time consuming part. Once you have made a big portion of bolognese, making lasagna is mostly walking in the park. All you need is assemble it and bake it!

Lasagna for me is a special dish. It is the first Italian dish that I tried and came to love. My friends and I used to drive an hour-long journey to this Italian restaurant just to enjoy some good Italian food. Of course, pizza was the most ordered sharing dish for us but I would still order my own lasagna just to satisfy my craving.

Lasagna is a super flavourful and very meaty dish. It can be quite cheesy as well if you add extra cheese with the likes of mozzarella and parmesan. I know some restaurants serve very cheesy lasagna but I don’t really enjoy it too much. I like it to be meaty with abit of parmesan cheese will do. It isn’t just me alone, even my wife prefers the meaty lasagna more than an overloaded cheesy one.

So, how to make a delicious and meaty lasagna? The answer is simple, we first make a delicious and meaty homemade bolognese. It take some effort to make but it is nothing too complicated. You can check on our bolognese recipe. A decent bolognese is the key to a tasty lasagna bolognese.

Once you have your bolognese, you will also need a nice parmesan cheese and a good lasagna pasta. Most recipe will call for Bechamel sauce or AKA white sauce. We find it too creamy with it so we usually skip that. With all the ingredients on the table, all we need is to assemble them. Stacking them layer by layer in a baking dish and bake them in oven for 30 minutes. Voila~ Your delicious lasagna bolognese is readied.

Equipment

  • Baking dish (17cm x 9cm)
  • Oven

Ingredients
  

  • 400 g Homemade bolognese
  • 50 g Shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 5 pcs Lasagna pasta

Instructions
 

  • Boil the lasagna pasta until al dente. Rinse it under tap water to cool it. Spread them on baking sheet and make sure they do not stick together.
  • Get a baking dish or you can fold some aluminum foil if you do not have one. For the first layer, place the lasagna pasta.
  • Then follow by the bolognese and cheese.
  • Repeat the same lasagna, bolognese, and cheese for the following layers. 5 layers will do.
  • Bake it in a preheat oven on 180 degree Celsius four 30 minutes.
  • Let it cold before cut and serve. Enjoy~
